Playing and Teaching the Music of Our Time
This lecture-recital explores the intersections of performance and pedagogy in contemporary piano repertoire. Through live demonstrations and commentary, Professor McCollough highlights the interpretive and technical challenges of the music of living composers—including the use of extended keyboard techniques—while offering practical strategies for teaching and performance. The presentation underscores the importance of contemporary music in fostering creativity, expanding repertoire, and shaping the future of musical practice.
